We live in a world of violence, in various forms, including physical, sexual, verbal and emotional abuse. Trauma, from violence, is a common occurrence. Trauma can result, also, from serious accidents, injuries, or illness, medical interventions, natural disasters, witnessing acts of violence, violent or unexpected death of someone close, war and terrorism. Human beings, typically, suppress trauma which then gets stored in the body’s somatic memory. Instead of suppressing trauma, we can learn to release somatic memory and feel much better. Even more, we can learn from traumatic life experience and choose a different course so we do not repeat destructive life patterns.
